How Oh Polly, G Fuel, and Vacation Inc. are raising the bar with the collection pages.

Welcome to the Thursday edition of the Platter Newsletter, where we share the best design, storefront inspo, and UX on Shopify.
In this issue
Cam here from the Platter team. This week, we’re sharing some of the best collection pages on Shopify right now:

What makes a good collection page?
When it comes to store design or CRO, collection pages often get dismissed or pushed down the priority list. But for most brands, especially ones with big product catalogues, they’re a great way to help customers shop.
A great collection page helps customers browse—while making your brand look good doing it. And as you’ll see in the examples below, there’s a real chance to inject your brand and personality.
Here are three collection pages we love right now.
Oh Polly

This one’s everywhere right now. If you’ve scrolled LinkedIn or TikTok this week, you’ve probably seen it.
Oh Polly went way out of the box and created a grid of autoplaying video thumbnails. Something we’ve never seen before.
Why it’s blowing up:
It’s completely unpredictable and novel
Shows the product in motion on real bodies
Gets peoples attention right away, you can’t help but watch
It’s brand, content, and creativity rolled into one. Bravo Oh Polly.
G Fuel

G Fuel’s collection page uses oversized product cards and a bundler section to help increase conversions. Oversized tubs, product labels, and a hover animations do a great job of gamifying the experience.
What we love:
Giant product images that jump on hover
Tons of reviews above the add to cart button
A Build Your Bundle section right below the first row, incentivizing customers with discounts.
Vacation Inc.

This one’s a vibe. From the “World Best-Smelling Sunscreen” header to the filtering options, Vacation Inc. has built one heck of a collection page that balances CRO best practices without sacrificing aesthetics.
Smart design moves:
4.7 stars from 9,000+ reviews front and center
Retro sticky filter on the left
Hover states that show lifestyle images
Are customers bouncing before they even hit your collection page?
You can have the best-designed collection page in the world—but what if customers bounce before they ever get there?
That’s where Alia can help.

Popups often get a bad rap. But when done right, they’re a great way to capture customer info before they vanish. And Alia is the best tool we’ve seen for making popups that don’t feel spammy.
It’s built for Shopify, and trusted by 1,300+ brands like Hot Ones, Nakie, Essence Vault, and even the President of Shopify (he uses Alia for Firebelly Tea).
Your collection page should help customers navigate your store, but Alia helps you catch the ones who don’t make it that far.
